As is well known, I love the sea, which is clear, being a Hamburg boy and ex-marine soldier. The sea is my second home in all its manifestations.

Here, an almost painterly motif was created using strong long-exposure. Not always a safe undertaking on the wet stones 😉

I had to abort the first attempt here because it simply became too dark and I had to find my way back to the car over volcanic rock.
But I really wanted to capture this scene, so the next evening I set out again specifically for this motif.
One of those photos that hardly makes an impact on the phone but is a fantastic photo when viewed large.

These photos are not something that is created in 5 minutes, often long planning and then a longer shoot was necessary, one had to first find the right location, the right tides, the right weather, etc. Just many things that come into consideration when taking proper photographs.

But I like the interplay of soft water playing around the hard rocks.
Hard & Soft, Yin & Yang, Good & Evil, thus it has a special meaning.

Naval Battle 2

Here’s a work that has never seen a camera but was purely created by me on the PC. Partly because this motif will simply no longer exist in today’s time, and as an old sea dog, I still like it. A “good, old, honest” naval battle, almost still man against man, and the “enemy” was still rescued after the sinking of the frigate. Even today, naval warfare is a somewhat different form of combat; after all, one also fights together against the forces of nature, and this connects people across flag borders.
