From May 1, 2025, new regulations for passport photos will apply in Germany: <\/strong>For all new ID cards, passports, and residence permits, the passport photo must be digitally and securely transmitted to the ID authority \u2013 the so-called e-passport photo<\/strong>. This fundamentally changes the entire process of passport photo creation. <\/p>\n\n

Why the office and machines are no longer sufficient<\/strong>The creation of e-passport photos will only be possible in the future through certified photographers and selected service providers<\/strong>. Photos from conventional machines or self-provided printouts will no longer be accepted<\/strong>. Taking photos directly at the office will also be discontinued in many cases, as many authorities are relying on external qualified partners. This is because photos taken at machines must be done under supervision! <\/p>\n\n
